Contribute Early

If you contribute to a tax-deferred retirement savings plan at the beginning of the year instead of during the end-of-year rush you’ll end up with more money. Your savings will have an extra year to compound and that extra year can make a big difference. Invest $13,500 at the beginning of the year and over a 28-year period, assuming an 8% average rate of return, you would have an extra $100,000 in your retirement savings plan.
