Thinking Things Through
Posted by John | Filed under Thinking Things Through
Under these posts we’ll have an opportunity to share our thoughts about our journeys and our growth. These questions will make you think. You don’t have to answer right away. Noodle for a while and then come back and jot down your ideas. Or start your own notebook where you track your journey privately. I’m hoping this will help to bring clarity to those who are struggling with the question, “What do I really, really want?”
This week:
2. What do you need to accomplish in your life to feel fulfilled and complete?
Take your time and really think about this. If you think you know and want to respond right away, do so. But then come back in a couple of days, re-read your response (or review your response in your notebook) and see if you want to add, subtract, change anything. This is a journey and it is one that will help you uncover what is really important to you if you take time to think.

1. I really, really want to recover my health. I want to lose weight, and exercise, and feel good.
2. I want to retire at 50 (10 years from now, yes slightly delusional).
3. I want to purchase a home.
4. I want to write a whole book, not the beginnings of several

What do I reall, really want?
I want to have children (been trying for over a year now…) and I want to own my home by the time I am 50.(hopefully sooner…) Can’t wait for the day I am mortgage free.. altho it is years away haha (I’m 24….)
Those are the only 2 things I can think of that I need in life to feel complete.

Well, I’m pretty close to Sarah but I can’t think too too far ahead. right now, I want:
1. To pay off my student loans.
2. For my husband to finish his education and get a secure job so I don’t have to work every single day.
3. Security. To not wonder how we’re gonna cover that $1700 deficit we have in our budget this month. To not wonder how I’m every going to be able to afford kids.
4. I really really want children. Looks like it might be hard for us though and have not not been trying with no results. So whether it happens naturally or through adoption, I’d really like to have kids within the next 5 years (that seems like SO long right now!

I’ve been thinking about this for a few days, and nothing has really popped out at me as “absolutely necessary in order to function in my life”.
Really, all I want in life is to be happy with how things turn out, and accept that I can’t control everything, and really, just to let things happen as they come. I used to say “everything happens for a reason”, and I while I do believe that, sometimes it’s difficult to accept that.
In terms of what makes me happy, going swimming, reading a book, geting into bed with clean sheets, baking, trying (and enjoyin!) something new, getting a massage, sitting on the balcony, staring out at the beauty of the city below …
But do any of these items make me feel truly fulfilled? I haven’t decided yet.
My future goals include saving for a house, retirement, and fun. I want to be able to explore the world – so far, explorations have been limited to Cuba, where we can get away for $500. I would like to see Europe, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii for sure. I haven’t decided on anything else yet.

I need to learn to except the fact that I have to be on a budget and I am not rich so I shouldnt act like I am.
Learn that the word sale is like a swear word and it should be ingnored when you dont have the cash to buy some thing
Be happy with the things I have and enjoy them like I do with new purchases.
future note: I want to be able to retire at 55 which is 19 years from now, but I want to do it with out owing anyone any money.
I want to be able to get a winter hobbie that doesnt cost to much money and that I find enjoyable.

I want to be cleared of all debt including mortgage, in 3 years or less.
I want to be able to buy my next car with cash.
I want to have maxed out our RRSPs before we retire.
I want to have saved enough money so that my children won’t be burdened by student loans, but still have a good money sense.
I want to be able to take my children on European vacations for each of their high school graduations.
I want to add that addition onto my house in 5 years.
I don’t want to have any regrets over how we spent our money by the time we retire.

I want to be debt free and a home owner by the time I’m 30. I want to support my parents financially so that they can enjoy the retirement that they deserve. For myself, I need a job (or jobs) that makes me happy to get up in the morning and that allows me to set my own hours, and some passive income streams that give me flexibility. I also want to continue to have great relationships with the people I care about, be able to do anything for anyone I love, and lastly to be able to travel when the need strikes me.

I want my children and stepchildren to have a happy and sucessfull live.
I want my spouse to have a sense of deep accomplishement in every thing she endavour (she volunteers a lot).
I want to be consumer debt free by the age of 55 (I will turn 52 by the end of 2010) so that I can slow down from the corporate life and turn my interests to helping charitable organizations and people in need with my skills.
I want to be mortage free before I retire (we did some renos a few years ago).
I want Gail to succeed because her crusade is so vital to people’s well-being and overall satisfaction in life.

I want both myself and my boyfriend to be happy at work and at life. Right now that is not the case but I think we are moving in the right direction.
I would like to be debt free and have a home before I’m 30. On my plan I will be debt free in 12 months and be 9000 up towards my down payment on a home. So I think this is doable and I’m only 25.
I would like to get married and have children soon, especially since my boyfriend is 34 and I know he doesn’t want to be 40 when he has his first kid.
Ideally I would like to remain debt free (except for a house) forever.
Lastly I would like enough financial stability to feel comfortable starting my own photography business. Someday I want to make a living doing something I love and that I’m not just good at.
Lastly, I want my family to be happy, and not have to worry about financial problems. It’s a burden I don’t want to pass on.

I need just two things:
1) I need to have personal relationships filled with love, in which I feel a real connection to my loved ones. I have people I love, but I would like to have a community or a network of people I could turn to.
2) I need to have made some kind of positive difference in the world.
Both are well within my reach, and I’m making my way towards them.
