Mid year review on my bills

I know we are a little past the mid year point of the year, but I recently did a review of our bills to see which bills we could cut and where we could get discounts and thought it would be fun to go over which bills you cut or where you got discounts.
We recently renewed our car insurance and since hubby’s car is a bit older and beaten up because he drives it every day for work we decided to go from full coverage to liability for his car, this reduced our premium significantly. I also switched insurers because my previous insurance company wanted to increase my premium when I haven’t had any claims or had any tickets. We also combined our home insurance with our car insurance for a cheaper rate.
Internet at home
I recently switched from Rogers to Bell. I’ve used both companies in the past and the only difference to me is the price. Bell has a promotion that’s slightly cheaper than Rogers so we switched over to Bell. I also checked out Primus which is the only company I found that offers unlimited internet, but you have to either have a landline, or pay $10 for a drop line in order to have the internet. That $10 extra fee for the drop line would make Primus more expensive than Rogers or Bell. Even though Primus has unlimited internet, the GB with Bell’s package is all we need.
We are currently with Telus and recently shopped around to see what other plans are out there. We found cheaper plans than what Telus was offering and called Telus and they actually matched it. It’s amazing what a few phone calls can do. It takes a bit of time, but if I can save a buck or two here and there than it’s worth it.
Have you gotten any discounts lately on any of your bills?
