So Long, And Thanks for All the Fish

Hello all. This is my final post for a while. I’m taking some time off. It’s been a very busy first quarter and it’s time to do some reassessing about life, the universe and everything.

There’s lots of info on this site and I’m past wanting to regurgitate what I’ve already said a dozen times. After blogging for eight years, five days a week — that’s over 2000 blogs, never mind all the questions answered and articles written — I’ve said it and said it again. If you want to hunt it out for free it’s here, somewhere, on this site. I have search functions on both the site and the blog that will help you find what you want.

If you want the information laid out in a systematic way so you can implement it 1, 2, 3, it’s in one of my books. Just find the right one, read it and then DO IT! It’s not enough to know, folks. To have a different outcome you have to DO something different.

I’m off to spend more time in my garden, painting, writing my kids’ fiction, and travelling with my children while they still want to hang out with me. I’ll still answer some of your questions — the ones that I haven’t yet answered or that strike me particularly interesting. And I might post them on the site from time to time.

I’m going to leave up for as long as I can but someone has been trying to hack both this site and the MMMC site, and as soon as they’re successful, all of it will come down. I have no desire to spend loads of effort/money defending these sites.

It’s been a blast. I hope you’ve learned what you need to make your life just the way you want it to be.

  1. You are really a true inspiring character for all bloggers, OMG 2000 articles it might be some kind of record. Good luck, keep inspiring!

  2. I want to thank you for sharing your expertise. I have had a massive drop in income (due to health issues and inability to work) and while I have luckily managed to stay on top of bills, by going through the site and watching your shows, I have learnt so much. I have been working at bringing my bf on board so that when he moves in, we will be on the same page and working toward the same goals. We have had some difficult conversations about money and our debt which I know wouldn’t have gone as well as they did had it been not for your approaches. I really hope that the site is up for a long, long time because I love it as a refresher and know that there are many people on the interwebs looking for the insight and information that you have to offer. with gratitude. y

  3. Thanks for the books, the blog and the website.

  6. Oiy-veh.

    Still nothin’.

    …miss you.

  7. Your ability to balance common sense with the emotions of the topic will be missed.
All the very best in pursuing your many other gifts and talents.

  8. Wow. You are one amazing woman and you’re doing what we all should do as financially independent households: pursuing our passions on our terms, whatever they may be at the time.

Your dedication to punt financial services sponsors in order to stay true to your message is a breath of fresh air. Truly inspiring.

Thank you for all you’ve done, all you are doing, and for everything you will do in the future.

Thank you for all you do to help! I love your shows and how you help so many people! I have my own guru and in April I’ll be out of debt and I am a recovering money moron but have a savings now and paying bills on time and living on cash and living and living life and your shows help me see things clearly! Love lisa

Gail I PVR so I can watch you shows everyday–sort of addicted. I can record 4 shows a day. How many did you do?

I am now reading your, “Money Rules” book. There are facts in the book that I have not read anywhere else and explained so well like what makes up your credit score. The higher the score the more of a sucker you are to pay interest charges.

You are tired of repeating common sense which is so lacking but we never want to stop hearing it from you. Your no bull attitude I am sure has gotten you into trouble at times but is appreciated. People have to hear the truth that they are a money moron. Sugar coating it does not them a wake up call.

Sorry your site may come down because of bad people trying to hack it.

Missing you. Drop in some time to kick butt!

Gail, just checked back (I had your blog in my reader) to see what you’re up to (if you’d updated). I worked in Edmonton (didn’t live there, but was conductor of Pro Coro Canada from 1999-2011) so got started watching your show then.

You’ve done some great things for all of us!

Just to say, I hope you’re doing all the things you mentioned in your last blog post and that you’re enjoying life to the fullest! You deserve it!

All best! While I’d love to see you pop up again, on TV or the blog, I’ll also be happy if you’re having a great time.

  15. Gail, thanks for leaving your blog up, and congratulations on keeping it up for so long! 2,000 posts is phenomenal! I’ve recently started a money-related blog some of your readers might be interested in (
PS. Love the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference!

  16. Thanks for sharing, hope that you will have a good time with your family

    Hi Gail,
It’s been almost a year… I hope you’re having a good retiremend. I miss you, though, so if you were to post an occasional blog on what you’re reading or a good recipe, I’d be happy to read! 🙂 Let us know if you have another (finance or otherwise-related) blog anywhere.
In any case, wishing you all the best,
    A reader in Labrador
